On a recent hot afternoon (and what afternoon hasn’t been hot lately?) we finally made it over to Union Tapas Restaurant & Bar for lunch. We’d been remiss in not trying out their lunch before now – but life sometimes has a way of doing it’s own scheduling.
It was wonderfully cool inside, and the freshly brewed ice tea helped, too. As we waited for our lunch date to arrive, we had a nice visit with the owner, Scott Marks. We always love visiting with proprietors of businesses – we can learn so much that we might not have known.
During this visit we learned that they have gone completely smoke free. Hallelujah! Not only are we allergic to smoke, but we’re expecting a new ministaffer in a few weeks, so smoke is really on our “to be avoided at all costs” list. It’s so nice to know that we can go into an establishment and not have to worry about that encounter.
Once our lunch date arrived, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch of humus, shrimp, conch fritters and a strawberry and goat cheese spinach salad. We love tapas – those small plates of great food. But if tapas is not your thing, don’t worry. During lunch you can order brats, dogs, or hamburgers, too. It’s a nice selection and a great lunch spot.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and catching up with an old friend. And now we can’t wait to return, knowing that not only does fresh food await, but clean air as well.
