Chef It Up

We have some great chefs in this town. And if you’re like us, you probably know most of them. They help make our city great – providing delicious food to tempt us into their establishments and taking on the mission to bring local products to the forefront of our dining experience.
And one artist has honored them with her own talent – painting portraits of many of the well-known chefs around town. Hot Springs artist Carole Katchen is known for her loose, joyous paintings that always bring forth the excitement of what she paints.
And the chefs are no different – being artists in their own right – she said this was one of the most exciting projects she has worked on. We know Carole – so we were privy to the drawings before the finished product – and it was an exciting process to see her complete.
The exhibit – “Let’s Eat” is currently on display at Cantrell Gallery. It features about a dozen of the area’s finest chefs and their kitchens, including Lee Richardson, Scott McGehee and Andre Poirot. Carole captures each chef’s personality so well – and in each piece you can see the artistry of not only Carole, but of the chef whose likeness appears on the canvas.
We encourage you to make a point to see this delicious exhibit. It’s a wonderful tribute to some talented artisans.
