ArtWeek is progressing well. There are so many opportunities to experience and see art in many different ways. Tomorrow night there is another opportunity to see some great art as Stephano’s Fine Art opens their latest show, “North/South.”
Stephano’s has brought together six unique, yet complimentary, artists – three from the North and three from the South – in this exciting new show at their gallery.
So, let’s start with those Southern artists (which we’re all kind of partial to, anyway!): There will be work from Jim Jolly, Matt Gore, and Stephano. Jim Jolly brings forth humor in all he paints. Yet there’s always a greater message for the viewer to hear as well. He’s not serious – he’d tell you that himself – and he has the ability to laugh at himself and at life. Enjoy the laughter in his art.
Matt Gore is a local contemporary artist who works in oil and acrylic. These are happy interludes of color and movement.
Stephano describes his work as Contemporary Impressionism. His use of color in his subjects always makes them pop from the canvas – and always make us happy.
The Northern Artists aren’t too shabby, either. Mary Ann Erickson hails from New York. Her “Landscapes of Vanishing America” depict an almost bygone era with realism and beauty. Alexis Silk from Illinois is a glass artist whose figures exude a sensuousness about them that begs to be felt. And George Peebles from Michigan is a landscape artist.
The concept of bringing together the talents of the North and South to play in concert with each other on the walls is a wonderful concept. We look forward to experiencing these six artists together.
Join your friends tomorrow night for the opening reception for the “North/South” show – and discover something new and fun.
