There’s rain in the forecast for the weekend. But don’t let that keep you away from all the fun going on in conjunction with ArtWeek and everything else! It’s a busy weekend – and one where we guarantee you won’t be bored for lack of things to do. Be sure to check out our calendar so you don’t miss a thing – and if we’ve missed your event – post it! We want to know all about what’s happening around here.
pArty. Last night was the official kick-off to ArtWeek’10, and now the events really kick into high gear. In downtown Little Rock tonight is 2nd Friday Art Night. There is lots to do at Historic Arkansas Museum, including celebrating pArty for Peg – a new sculpture for the museum, live music by the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, and the opening of their latest exhibit featuring work by Maribeth Anders and John Chiaromonte. And while you’re downtown, don’t forget to visit the Arkansas Studies Institute, Art Scene, Hearne Fine Art and Christ Church, too – lots of fun to be had. Friday, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Celebrate. There’s a great party planned Saturday on South Main Street in Little Rock. This is another event that’s part of ArtWeek’10 – and there’s something for everyone. There will be actors, artists, painters and more along the streets beginning at Community Bakery and ending at the Bernice Sculpture Garden. There will even be a wine tasting beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Bernice Sculpture Garden. Saturday, 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Visit www.southsidemain.org for more information.
Design. Looking for something unique to compliment your summer wardrobe? Stop by Greg Thompson Fine Art on Sunday for a trunk show featuring new jewelry designs by KatEva Designs. There will be mimosas to quench your thirst and beautiful art and jewelry to make your heart happy. Sunday, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. 429 Main Street, North Little Rock. Call (501) 664-2787 for more information.
