Remembering Mom and

Helping Others

May 6, 2010

Have you found the perfect gift for your mom yet?  Maybe you’re looking for just one more thing to round it out.  Or maybe you’re still trying to figure out what to hint at for your own gift.  If you are anything like us, we don’t need anything.  We are blessed with so many things in life.

But many moms are not as lucky as we are.  Did you know that the poverty rate in Arkansas is over 17%?  We don’t think twice about putting a nutritious dinner on the table for our mini-staffers.  And you know how we like our food!  But what about the moms that struggle to feed their kids?

For Mother’s Day this year, what about making a $40 donation to the Arkansas Rice Depot in your mother’s name?  That’s about what you might spend on flowers.  But with that $40, the Arkansas Rice Depot can provide 10 families with 20 pounds of food each!

The Arkansas Rice Depot makes giving easy:  you can do it online, and they’ll even send a nice card to your mom telling her about your thoughtfulness.

So when you sit down to a delicious Mother’s Day meal on Sunday – whether you’re dining out or cooking in – you’ll know that not only have you made your mom feel special, but you’ve helped out other moms in the process.  Now that’s a gift.
