The rain may be threatening to stay around this weekend, but don’t let that get you down. There’s much to be done – and it’s a big weekend for music and art, too. Be sure to check out our calendar so you don’t miss a thing – and if we’ve missed your event – post it! We want to know all about what’s happening around here.
A Great View. Tonight is the opening reception for the Art in the Air Professional Art Exhibit and Sale at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute. Sitting high on top of Petit Jean Mountain, this is an exquisite place to see some great art. The art will be for sale and the artists will be present – and all proceeds go to support the art programs at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute. So don’t miss this wonderful opening night reception! Friday, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. $10. Visit www.uawri.org for more information.
Magnificent & Splendid. The Arkansas Choral Society is putting on a wonderful event tonight – Magnificent Mozart & Splendid Schubert. This fast-paced and fun concert and silent auction benefits the Society’s educational outreach programs and promises to be fun for all ages. Friday, 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. St. James United Methodist Church. Tickets $15/adults and $8/kids and available at the door. Visit www.arkansaschoral.wordpress.com.
Rock Out. Mozart? Rockin? Absolutely! Don’t miss Mozart’s The Magic Flute in a new performing version. Presented by the UALR Opera Theatre, this performance is in all English with a full orchestra – plus a few surprises. How about a New York subway car on stage? Or an African prince lost in New York? And be sure to watch out for flying chickens! Find out all the surprises in this new version of an old favorite. Friday, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, 3:00 p.m. Wildwood Park for the Arts. Tickets $25 for preferred seating and a champagne reception; $15 for general admission; $5 for kids. Call (501) 569-8993 for more information or for tickets.
