Locally Delicious

April 22, 2010

It’s been a week now since the Argenta Market opened.  And we’ve enjoyed every minute of it.  Opening day was crazy.  A lot of people have been waiting a long time for Argenta Market to open – and when the day finally arrived – no one could stay away.

Now things have slowed to a more normal pace, which is what we like. And, having our office a block from the Argenta Market, makes things even easier on us.

The Argenta Market is a grocery store. They have all those things that you’re going to need anyway, like cereal and bread and paper towels. But they also have all the things you’ve been patiently (or not so patiently) waiting for, too. Things like fresh milk from Seven Doves Creamery. When we were visiting with Jody Hardin, the farmer in charge of Argenta Market, he told us that the milk in those jugs was so fresh, it had been in the cow the day before. Now that’s fresh!

And local eggs, cheese, produce, and meat. In fact, if you’re lucky, you can stumble into fresh strawberries picked the same morning. But those don’t last too long.

The deli is fabulous, too. Fresh salads and meats piled high on delicious bread. Or grab some freshly prepared take-out. Whatever your fancy, if it’s fresh and it’s local, chances are, Argenta Market is going to have it.
