In Love With Art?
|

April 21, 2010
We love the arts – in all forms. From the Symphony to the Rep to works on paper. But so much of the time, the arts are threatened. That’s why organizations like the Arkansas Arts Council are so important. They keep art on the front burner. And we know there are other organizations and individuals who keep art on the front burner as well.
Are you one of them? Do you know someone who is one of them? Well, then it’s time to nominate them for the 2010 Governor’s Arts Awards. These annual awards recognize Arkansans for their outstanding contributions to the arts community.
They have seven categories for nominations that include: Arts Community Development, Arts in Education, Corporate Sponsorship of the Arts, Individual Artist, Folk Life, Patron and Lifetime Achievement. All of these categories have one thing in common – the entity or the individual has made an impact on the arts in our community.
The Arkansas Arts Council is also accepting applications for individual artist fellowships. In an economic time that’s hard for all of us, now is a great time for artists to get support for their craft.
So get out there and start nominating! It’s time to recognize those people and organizations that do so much each day to help the arts foster and grow in Arkansas.
Governor’s Arts Awards and Individual Artist Fellowship Applications are available at www.arkansasarts.org or by calling the Arkansas Arts Council at (501) 324-9766.
Deadline for submissions and nominations is Friday, May 7, 2010.
