We keep hearing people say that summer has already arrived. But we know it’s not true. It may be warm, but it’s still pleasant to be outside or have the windows open. Enjoy it while it lasts – and enjoy the great events this weekend. Be sure to check out our calendar so you don’t miss a thing – and if we’ve missed your event – post it! We want to know all about what’s happening around here.
Go Green. Here’s an update on the Go Green Festival we mentioned on Monday. They’ve got lots of fun planned, including Captain Sewer, the Little Rock Animal Village, the Rain Barrel guy and more. And many stores are offering great discounts. Click here for a full update on what’s happening. Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Market Place Shopping Center.
Special Kids. We all know kids are special – especially our own. But on Sunday, you can really celebrate the good work of Dr. Paul Wendell and the UAMS Maternal-Fetal Medicine Department. Pel’s Pals Foundation is hosting a Children’s Style Show benefiting the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Endowment. Coach John Pelphrey will be there to give autographs, and there’s even entertainment by the Duggar Family. Plus, this is a kid-friendly event. Sunday, 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. $20, UAMS Jackson T. Stephens Spine & Neurosciences Institute, 12th Floor, Fred Smith Auditorium. Visit www.pelspals.org for more information.
Time for Broadway. This is one of our favorite events of the year – when the River City Men’s Chorus performs! They are an outstanding group of talented men led by David Glaze. This concert is a Broadway Showcase featuring music from some of your favorite shows including Wicked, Rent, Chicago, Oklahoma, The Music Man, Kiss Me Kate, and many more. Definitely a don’t miss event. Sunday, 3:00 p.m., Monday, 7:00 p.m. and Thursday 7:00 p.m. Trinity United Methodist Church, 1101 N. Mississippi Street. Free. Visit www.rivercitymenschorus.com for more information.
