A Weekend of Fun

February 15, 2010
This was a great weekend around our house. We’ve had house guests from out of town, and we sure enjoyed showing them this place we call home.
We puttered about all over, but we ended up spending two days – yes, two – at the Arkansas Arts Center! And boy, were we impressed with what we saw.
We first wanted to take our friends to the Pharaoh exhibit. Now, we’ve seen this exhibit four times – and each time we learned something new. But this time, the ministaffers insisted on the audio to accompany us. It was a great decision. So even if you’ve seen the exhibit – go back again and enjoy the enhancement of a guide pointing out little bits about Egyptian life and history along the way. Our ministaffers were entranced.
We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Best Impressions before heading out to see the Delta Exhibition. They’ve changed their menu at Best Impressions – and we think it’s for the better. The sandwiches are fresh and it was a nice break in the middle of an art experience day.
We always enjoy the Delta Exhibition. This year was no exception. There are always a few artists we know whose work is chosen. This year, we enjoyed seeing Dennis McCann and Kathy Bay’s work. And there were some other artists we’d never heard about. That’s what makes the Delta so interesting – it exposes us to new artists who are living and working in the South.
On Sunday we returned again – to enjoy more art and more food. And of course the ministaffers used their allowance at their favorite store – the Museum Shop. We have budding Egyptologists among us, and it’s the perfect place to fuel their interest and keep their creativity going.
So enjoy the Arkansas Arts Center. There’s something always happening. And we were pleased to spend some quality time there with good friends this weekend.
