Whole Treasures

Whole Treasures
January 28, 2010

There are a lot of businesses doing a lot of good work in our community.  And there are a lot of non-profits needing that help to keep up the good work.  That’s why for-profit businesses who give back to our community play such a vital role in making this a wonderful place in which to live.

One business making a difference is Whole Foods.  They may not be a local business, but they definitely bloom where they’re planted.  They buy from local farmers – and their local produce section is a wonderful place to stock up when we miss our chance to order from CAFM.

Their in-house bakery makes breads and other bakery items onsite, so you are never wondering where it came from, or how long it traveled.  And the ingredients are always fresh, too.

We’ve also been impressed with their floral selection – and especially their orchids.  Always fresh – and at fair prices.

But they do more than just buy locally.  They have a program called “Nickels for Nonprofits.”  And now through April 19, for each bag you bring in and use (instead of using one of their new bags) they will give 5 cents to Camp Aldersgate.  That adds up fast.  So not only will you help the environment by using recycled bags, you will go home knowing you also helped Camp Aldersgate continue to provide a quality camp experience for kids with disabilities.

So go shop.  Bring your own bags.  And help give back to our community.  It really does make a difference.
