Buffet Bonanza

Buffet Bonanza

January 14, 2010

We are really not the buffet type.  If there’s a buffet, we usually just order off the menu.  But recently we went to Sunday brunch with friends, and they suggested a visit to FuLin Chinese Restaurant.

Now, we actually, believe it or not, had never been to FuLin’s.  So we were excited to dine at a new (for us) establishment, but it was with trepidation that we agreed to a buffet.  We didn’t need to worry.

You’ve probably been to a Chinese buffet before.  There’s lots of fried foods and your normal fare of sweet and sour chicken and crab rangoon.  FuLin has those foods, of course.  But what captured our attention and impressed us was the rest of the fare.

On a side table, fresh and healthy dumplings of all kinds were put out.  There were so many options, that we almost didn’t even venture over to the main area.  They had many different flavors and tastes – from the plain to the bold.

On the main table were the staples: the crab rangoon, spring rolls and sweet and sour chicken.  But they also had a great deal of seafood available.  From spicy squid to shrimp with lobster sauce and more – the variety was impressive.

Finally was the dessert.  There were many, many options.  But fruit and cookies proved to us to be a wonderful and simple ending to a surprisingly delicious meal.
