Has the countdown begun for you yet? Schools are full of children waiting with anticipation for holiday parties and holiday breaks to start. We’re looking forward to joining family and friends next week for a non-stop holiday week. And this weekend is shaping up to be quite a fun one, too! Be sure to check out our calendar so you don’t miss a thing – and if we’ve missed your event – post it! We want to know all about what’s happening around here. Our Top Three events for this weekend are:
See a Movie. We love going to the movies – especially with our ministaffers. Saturday morning brings an even better excuse to get up and get out – Centers for Youth & Families is having a toy drive at the Riverdale 10 cinema. If you bring a toy for a child at The Centers, you get in FREE to see either Polar Express or Planet 51! How much fun is that? We’ve got our gifts ready to go. And when you bring those gifts, don’t forget about the older kids – they need Christmas, too. Saturday, 9:30 a.m. showtime, Riverdale 10 Cinema. Call (501) 666-9436 for more information.
See a Show. Holiday celebrations are everywhere. Here’s one we’re taking our ministaffers to see – and we know you’ll want to attend as well. It’s the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra’s Jingle Bell Little Rock! This is a fun kid-sized concert. It’s only one hour and features all sorts of wonderful carols and magical staging to delight kids of all ages. If you come early, you’ll get to experience the Deck the Halls Children’s Fair. What fun! Saturday, 2:00 p.m. Tickets $20. Call (501) 666-1761 or visit www.arkansassymphony.org for tickets.
Listen to the Music. Christmas hasn’t arrived for us until we sit down at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral for its service of Nine Lessons and Carols. This is the same service that has been performed for generations by King’s College in Cambridge. It is full of the wonderful stories of the season, along with some of our most favorite carols. Join the Cathedral Choir and the Cathedral Ringers for this most special service. Sunday, 5:00 p.m. Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Call (501) 372-0294 for more information.
