December 14, 2009
Welcome to the third installment of our Hot Haves – a journey through some of our favorite local places to grab some great gifts! We’ve found lots of neat things hiding among the isles of our favorite stores. And guess what? We haven’t been to one big box store since before Thanksgiving! You can shop locally, too. And it’s so much nicer. Here are some more recommendations:
Make & Bake. Do you have a cook or a baker on your list? We recommend a stop at Cynthia East Fabrics. Yes, you heard us! Cynthia East Fabrics has one of the cutest gift shops at the front of their store. And they have a whole section of cookbooks. Anything you want to cook, we bet you can find the cookbook to fit the bill. And dress it up with one of the cute aprons they have available. Or, if you’re feeling crafty yourself, grab some of their oh-so-cute fabrics and make your own apron! Who wouldn’t love a gift like that? Available at Cynthia East Fabrics, 1523 Rebsamen Park Road. (501) 663-0460.
Ideas Galore. Are you stuck? Are there folks on your list that you just can’t decide what they need or want? Then make your next stop at Fifth Season. From china to glass to candles and more, we guarantee you won’t leave empty handed. Some of our most treasured gifts have come from Fifth Season – so just take your list of names into the store – and come out with everyone checked off! Fifth Season, 10020 Rodney Parham Road. (501) 225-0544.
Pass on the Gift. Some gifts come with more than meets the eye. Some gifts keep on giving – even though you or your recipient may not realize it. That’s just the way things roll at Shop@Heifer. Purchase any gift from their gift shop, and you’ll leave knowing not only where the gift was made, but also how your purchase is being used to continue helping others end poverty. Doesn’t that sound like a perfect gift? From their bags, books, T-shirts, mugs, pottery or world handicrafts, rest assured that you are buying ethically and socially responsible products. Shop@Heifer in Heifer Village, 1 World Avenue. (501) 907-8800.
