Last night was a magical evening.  It was the first of many holiday parties on our list.  So the season of parties has begun!  We greeted friends and enjoyed the spirit of the season.  And then we sat down for dinner.  Our location was the future home of the Argenta Market.  After this week of parties, the demolition of the inside will begin, and a new grocery store will take shape.  We can hardly wait.

But today, we want to tell you about our meal last night.  It was catered by Argenta Market, which is led by Chef Shane Henderson and Jody Hardin.  And it was superb.  Our first course consisted of fresh Arkansas tomatoes and mozzarella with an herb and truffle oil dressing.  It was complimented with four huge shrimp and some Arkansas microgreens.  We really could have licked that plate clean and asked for seconds – it was that good.

Our next course was even more amazing.  As our plate was set in front of us, a steaming heap of black linguine greeted us.  It was topped with a bourbon marinated and grilled salmon and sundried tomatoes and microgreens.  What was this black linguine?  Well, it turned out to be squid ink pasta.  It was made in-house by Chef Henderson with fresh squid ink, eggs, flour, water and salt.  It was simply divine.

After we had several bites, we looked over to Jody and said, “This needs to be available online next week.”  He smiled and went into the kitchen.  When he returned he said, “Look for it next week – it will be on there!”  Hurray!  At $9.00 a pound, it is a bit pricey, but we’re here to tell you that it is worth every penny.  If you haven’t ordered from the Certified Arkansas Farmers Market online ordering system yet, it’s now time to do so.  Your holiday dinner parties will never be the same.

Argenta Market may not be open until March, but Chef Henderson and Jody can make all your catering dreams come true – and with fresh Arkansas products.  We encourage you to order your own products from CAFM, and to visit with Chef Henderson the next time you need catering services.  Your guests will thank you.

Our magical dinner may be over, but we left with fond memories and the anticipation of trying to repeat that wonderful dinner ourselves.
