Breakfast with Family
|
|
|
Thanksgiving morning – it’s a wonderful time. Sleeping in later than usual; watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in our jammies; and breakfast.
You may be eating out for Thanksgiving, or travelling to see family or friends, or maybe you are busy in the kitchen preparing your own Thanksgiving Day feast. We happen to be with family this morning. And the kitchen is bustling with activity.
There are eggs poaching, giblet gravy simmering, and duck and turkey waiting for their turn in the oven. But what we have our eyes on right now are the sweet rolls rising.
Do you remember our sweet rolls? We’ve given you this recipe before, but on this Thanksgiving morning, we thought we’d make it easy, just in case you get the urge to make them right now yourself.
Place one tsp instant yeast, 3 cups of flour, 3 tbs melted butter, 1/2 tsp salt, 3 tbs sugar and 2 cups hot water in a bowl. Mix all of this together and let it rise. Then knead the bread and roll it out. Spread with melted butter, brown sugar, and grated cinnamon. Roll up and slice. Place in a baking pan and bake at 375 for 10 – 15 minutes. You can spread them with more butter and cinnamon if you like. Oh my.
This is one of our favorite family traditions on holidays, and we love sharing those traditions with you. We hope that whatever you are doing on this Thanksgiving day, that you are blessed with family, friends, and good fortune.
We have so much to be thankful for this year, and as we sink our teeth into one of our hot and gooey sweet rolls, we give thanks for all of it – and for you, our loyal readers.
Happy Thanksgiving!
