Pulp Fiction Redux

November 25, 2009

Have you ever wondered what life would be like if you had another career?  Or are you about to leave one career and start another one soon yourself?  Next Tuesday at Stephano’s, you can meet three fortunate individuals who have embarked on their second careers as writers.

In this inaugural showcase of writers at the gallery, Stephano’s truly does live up to its mantra of supporting all local artists – and writers are certainly part of the arts.  “Art, Literature, and Pulp Fiction” happens on Tuesday, December 1 with a reception and a meet and greet of the three writers.  Their books will be available for purchase – and of course you can snag an autograph or two.

The three writers are B.R. (Bobby) Harwell, Dolly Kyle, and Betty Mabry Turner.  Harwell is a former Hollywood actor and merchant marine.  His novel tells a story set with the backdrops of Hollywood and Arkansas.  There’s plenty of scandal and plenty of glamour.

Dolly Kyle practiced law for 20 years before returning to Little Rock.  She has now completed her second novel about a clandestine teenage love affair.  But what happens when he becomes President of the United States?

Betty Mabry Turner has taught English, French and run her own antique store.  Her new novel tells a  tale of revenge.  Characters include a renegade FBI agent, the President of the United States, and other very interesting characters – all set in the Ozark foothills of Northwest Arkansas.

Not only do these three authors write scintillating tales set in Arkansas, but they are all over age 50.  As they find their voice through their writing, Stephano’s celebrates their talents and those of other local artists.  This will be a great party.
