Bean Around

There’s something magical about this place in which we live, don’t you think? We’ve lived in many different cities across this country in our lifetime – but there’s nothing like what we’ve experienced living here. From the revitalization of the Argenta neighborhood of downtown North Little Rock to the excellent arts scene on both sides of the river, this is a place we are happy to call home.
That’s why we don’t want you to miss the last few days of Cantrell Gallery’s latest exhibit: Featuring Little Rock by Terry Bean. It runs through October 31, and provides a great look at many familiar scenes around town.
Take one of our favorite venues: the Capital Hotel. It’s featured prominently in some of Bean’s latest work. We were thrilled when we looked at one of his works and said, “we know him!” From the instantly recognizable bartender at the Capital Bar & Grill to an intimate dining experience at Ashley’s, Bean has captured the essence of the Capital Hotel beautifully.
He’s done the same for other places around town. It’s wonderful to be able to look at our city through someone else’s eyes – and find new ways to love it.
But Terry Bean has not just stayed in Little Rock. While the focus of this exhibit is on scenes around town, Bean has also been honored with some pretty fabulous awards and recognition around the world. He spent time in China, where his work was included in the Pudong Art Museum Opening. And his next international art exhibit is at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva. Some of that work is also on display at Cantrell Gallery.
Bean has been the recipient of the coveted Delta Award from the Arkansas Arts Center, and his work is included in many permanent collections, including the Historic Arkansas Museum, the Arkansas Public Library System, the Arkansas Arts Center, and Wildwood Park for the Arts.
This is a wonderful opportunity to see some of Bean’s latest work, and to enjoy our city from another perspective. So don’t miss it!
