Upscale Mexican is Back!

Before attending Mamma Mia! on Tuesday night, we decided to have dinner close to our house. We thought it would be fun to try something new, so we headed over to Tico’s.
Tico’s is Jerry Barakat’s newest endeavor. It’s located where Amalfi’s used to be on Rahling Road. Not much has changed with the decor – but that’s not a bad thing. It is elegantly decorated with glass vases accenting the walls and dark marble tops.
The first thing we ordered when we sat down was their queso fundido. This is always a crowd pleaser with our ministaffers. As they were happily munching on chips and cheese dip, we took a closer look at the menu.
Tico’s is upscale Mexican food. But their prices are extremely reasonable. We settled on chile rellenos stuffed with shrimp, quesadillas, and tacos. And to drink? Sangria, of course! Tico’s makes their Sangria in house. It comes full of delicious fruits like apples and grapes floating in the glass. It was fabulous.
When the food arrived, we were pleasantly surprised. The kids’ meals came with cookies (a huge success!) and our chile rellenos were not only made-to-order, but they weren’t fried! Instead, the chiles were nicely hollowed out and a delicious combination of cheeses, shrimp and seasonings were stuffed inside. The accompanying salad, rice and beans were all fresh and bursting with flavor.
Our meal was excellent. We didn’t feel over-filled or greasy when we left. Instead, we felt satisfied and happy. Tico’s is definitely worth checking out. It is great for a date night or a family night – and the prices will make you happy, too.
