Saturday is a busy day. But what weekend isn’t
busy in the fall? Although Saturday really has a lot of great things that shouldn’t be missed. So save up your energy now – you’ll need it!
One of those not-to-be-missed events is the Thea Foundation’s annual Thea Paves The Way event. This is their fourth year and it grows bigger and better each time. This event is fun for the whole family. It’s meant to encourage school groups, kids, families – really, all of us, to enjoy art for art’s sake and try our hand at for a morning.
What happens at Thea Paves The Way? We draw on the sidewalk with chalk! Now, who doesn’t love to do that? It takes place outside the Clinton Presidential Library and promises all sorts of excitement. Not only will you have the opportunity to let your inner artist out, but the kids get to jump in a bouncy castle, pet all sorts of fun little critters, play games, and lots more.
The Thea Foundation was founded by Paul and Linda Leopoulos after the tragic death of their daughter, Thea. Thea loved the arts, and by doing art, Thea began to blossom. In her honor, they created this foundation to advocate the importance of art in the development of our youth. They provide art supplies to many school districts who can’t afford to provide their own art supplies, as well as offer scholarships to students statewide in the visual and performing arts.
If you’ve never been by their building at 401 Main Street in the Argenta Arts District, you’re missing out. Often they display work by Arkansas students, and Thea’s own work is on permanent display.
So, pick up your chalk on Saturday morning and plan a trip to the Clinton Presidential Library to learn more about and support this wonderful foundation. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet Thea’s parents, Paul and Linda, who have worked so hard and diligently to provide art experiences to so many students across our state.
We’ll be there, and we hope to see you there, too!
