Weekend Happenings

for June 12

June 12, 2009

We are already half-way through June.  How did that happen?  Constantly we stand amazed at how quickly time passes.  There never seems to be enough time to just slow down and reflect.  This weekend is no different, but we hope that some of the activities this weekend provide you with time to celebrate, time to pause, and time to be thankful for all your blessings.  Be sure to visit our online calendar so you don’t miss anything:  www.hotinlittlerock.com/calendar.  Here are our Top Three:
Celebrate.  Now here’s your chance to celebrate this life which you were given.  Stop by Boswell-Morot Fine Art at 5815 Kavanaugh for the Celebration of Life 2009 Wine & Cheese Party tonight from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  It is the kick-off to the Celebration of Life AIDS Walk on Saturday, and is your chance to see great art while benefitting a great cause.  $35. Then head over to the Clinton Presidential Center on Saturday morning for the AIDS Walk.  It’s only $20 to register, and you not only get a cool t-shirt, but you’re helping raise money and awareness for a great cause.  There will be food, fun, entertainment, and a health fair following the walk.  Registration 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.  Walk 10:00 a.m.  Call (501) 376-6299 for more information.
Have Your Cake & Eat It, Too.  It’s that season: cake season!  With weddings, showers, birthdays – there’s always an excuse to have a cake.  And on Saturday, you can join in on the sampling of great cakes made by the bakers at Whole Foods.  They’ll be whipping up several delectable delights.  But unlike most grocery stores, none of these desserts have artifical flavors or colors.  They use only real butter, real vanilla, and natural vegetable colors.  Saturday, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Whole Foods Market.
Gone Fishin’ It’s a free fishing weekend in Arkansas!  And as part of that – all kids 12 and under can fish at the Arkansas hatcheries.  They’ll be stocked with kid-size fish and everyone will have the opportunity to take some home.  So bring your camera and sunscreen and let the kids bring home dinner.  Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. For more information, visit http://www.arkansasfreefishing.com/.
